It’s not the first time the film has won a prize, as it was hailed as the “Best International Film” in Los Angeles, which marked Mind of Thoughts’s Hollywood premiere.
So what is this movie that’s taking the festival circuit by storm about? It's a psychological drama, and the clue is in the title. It’s about the power of thoughts and their impact on our daily lives. The film explores “a rising artist on the verge of her breakthrough – but also on the brink of self-destruction.”
The writer, director and producer has said that her film is “about the battle to break free – from fear, from expectations, from the limits we place on ourselves.”
She may only be 26 but Charlotte Verminck from Knokke-Heist (in the Belgian province of West Flanders) is clearly in it to win it, and her nomination for Best First-Time Director at the Red Movie Awards this year shows the talent of this young Belgian lady, who started editing at 10 years old and became Creative Director for Ozark Henry (another fine creative Belgian) at 17.
This award is a nice recognition for the sound technicians who worked on the film, and for Verminck’s work.
We’re so excited to see what the future has in store for Charlotte, and what she has in store for us.
